形态特征：多年生草本，高1-2米，秆丛立，有节。叶鞘无毛，叶舌膜质，顶端及后面具纤毛，叶线形，长可达1米，下面疏生柔毛及被白粉，边缘粗糙。圆锥花序扇形，直立，顶生，主轴无毛，分枝较粗硬，直立，不再分枝或基部分枝具第二次分枝；小穗披针形，长4.5-5毫米稍扭曲，黄色有光泽。雄蕊3枚，稃褐色，柱头紫褐色，从小穗中部之两侧伸出。颖果长圆形，暗紫色。花果期7-12月。
